Sportsfreunde.de – Sports 2.0!

This is a paid posting, powered by trigami Disclaimer: This is a paid posting, powered by trigami.

Sportsfreunde.de

Everyone knows Web 2.0. Networking, Communities, so-called Social Networks. Now Sportsfreunde.de comes with a new idea: Sports 2.0! On this online community, sport fans from all Germany can register, get to know each other and meet. Need a jogging partner? You will find him on Sportsfreunde.de!

At first glance the website appears quite colourful. Multi-coloured boxes on the starting page lead on to different categories. The menu is placed below the header as a horizontal navigation, which is empirically not detected as a menu by unexperienced internet users. Like it should be on Web 2.0, there is a tag cloud with various forms of sport in the footer.

Sportsfreunde.de

Ih the Community box you can see user pictures, probably at random. The box Videos contains a video preview. We have a map excerpt in the Events box and a small post code searchform for searching the next sport events nearby. Those three categories, Community, Videos and Events, seem to be the main topics of the page. Then there is also the box “Wer wir sind” (Who we are), assumedly you can read there what Sportsfreunde.de is about and who made it.

Okay then, let’s register. To find the link is quite easy as there is an orange star in the header, the inscription is “Jetzt neu anmelden” (Register now). Mandatory fields are: Nickname, password, email, first and last name, gender, birthday, post code, location and country.

A bit ambiguous: Post code and location are in the same line and delineated like that: PLZ / Wohnort* (Post code / location). At first I didn’t fill in the post code field, because there is no asterisk behind it. Even so the post code is also a mandatory field. A few seconds later I got the activation email and I can log in.

A second view on the menu above reveals another two main topics: Sportspartner and Clubs. A bit confusing, after all there are no boxes for those topics on the starting page, although they are more important than videos in my opinion. That’s a small bad point.

The design for the different menu items is blog similar: Sidebar on the right, content on the left. According to the menu item there are different sidebar contents, so that you only see currently relevant links and items in the sidebar. That forwards clarity: No needless contents.

The items Events and Sportspartner are similarly constructed: There is a calendar in the sidebar, besides a field for entering a event or request for a sport partner. In between there is a randomly chosen BMI, pulse or calories calculator, due to the link structure located in the community. But when I search for a complete list of all calculators there – may be that there are other calculators – I don’t make a find. That’s a real pity. Inside the content area of the items Events and Sportspartner there is a searchform, below a list of events resp. sport partners. If you start a search, you get the findings here.

The item “Bilder und Videos” (Pictures and Videos) certainly contains pictures and videos. You can filter them by form of sport in the sidebar and you can upload your own videos or photos. All in all quite unspectacular, ordinary people doing sports, and of course even a few pros.

Below the point “Vereine” (Clubs) you can enter your sports club. If somebody is looking for a football club in these parts and the club is registered, he can inform here right off about the club’s address. The telephone number would also be useful; that way one could make contact by phone.

Finally we have the item Community, where you can find other members, swap ideas on the board and found or join interest groups. Top right inside the header there is a mailbox, here you can receive messages from other members or send messages. Below the point “Mein Profil” (My profile) which opens when clicking on Community inside the horizontal menu, you’ve got an overview of all activities you made in the Community.

Sportsfreunde.de

Then we got the item “Sportarten” (Sport forms). Here you can choose a sport form from a dropdown menu you want to know more about and then get an insight in history and rules of it. Want to boast with the offside rule on your next pub visit? No problem!

The possibilities on the page are very interesting by all means. The sport partner search, the club search and the events are offering enough options to live out your sportsmanship at all times, be it active or only as spectator. You’ll make a find here if you like to watch indoor football tournaments, as well if you are a broker and like to go jogging early in the morning, but don’t want to do that alone.

There are communities for so many things, so why not for sport fans? I like that concept and think it could absolutely be a success. Especially the richness of different possibilities makes it that interesting. I even like the sport forms areas, here you can inform yourself in detail and then show off with your knowledge.

The design I partly like less. The view inside the menu items is quite clear, but on the starting page the horizontal navigation doesn’t point out enough. I also miss the boxes for clubs and sport partners, which are quite important in my opinion, as I said before. Furthermore the whole page is much too colourful. A bit less of colours would benefit a lot.

In terms of the design further on I don’t like the left-aligned justification of the whole content. If you have a high resolution, there is a big empty white area left over on the right side. If the whole content was centered, the white area would split on both sides. That would look much more balanced.

The two big ad banners are also placed a bit unfortunately. I think one would even be enough, especially because both advertise the same page. The content appeals a bit wedged by the banners. If the top banner wouldn’t be there, the header would also show to advantage much better.

My result: Sportsfreunde.de is a quite good concept with an improvable design. With a bit work on the layout and some more clarity it could absolutely grow to a popular portal for sportsmen and even has family potential – if the son wants to be a football pro when he’s older, you can find an applicative club here. I’m curious how the page shapes up. smilie

Baton: Rhythm Stick

I found this baton on Prinzzess’ page and just swooped for it.

  • …that makes me unable to sit still:
    Kate Ryan: La Promesse
  • …that always makes me singing along loudly:
    Natasha Bedingfield: Unwritten

  • …that I could listen to without cease:
Die Toten Hosen: Alles aus Liebe
  • …that I love:
John Denver: Take me Home, Country Roads
  • …that I own, but don’t like:
    I really don’t by songs I don’t like…
  • …whose lyrics apply to me:
Pink: Don’t let me get me
  • …from a soundtrack:
Celine Dion: My heart will go on
  • …that I heard live yet:

  • …that scarcely anybody knows, although everybody should know it:
    Michelle Branch: Goodbye to you

You all know it, I’m too lazy to throw it… so take it if you’d like to. smilie

Wii Play

A few days ago I got my new Wii game. Wii Play is sold with a Wii Remote and costs about 50 Euros. It’s a game collection containing nine mini games. The most I like the cow race, here you have to tilt the remote forward and sidewards to control the cow, the fishing game and the shooter. You can watch a few games in this video:

Wii Play – MyVideo

In particular you can see there: The cow race, the shooter and the Mii posing game, here you have to bring the Miis to the same pose like on the screen and thereby to burst the bubbles.

Beside these three games there is Mii swarm (search game), table tennis, laser hockey, billiards, fishing and a little tank game. All in all a funny game collection! The game is currently reduced by 5 Euros on Amazon – so don’t hesitate and get Wii Play (mit Wii Remote)! smilie

World Contraception Day

Here the international health organisations had a really wise idea and immediately put it into practice. For the future the World Contraception Day shall be held on each 26th of September. With that day, the health organisations want to prevent unwanted pregnancies, as unbelievable 80 millions of 210 million pregnancies a year are unwanted. Especially in the USA many teenagers are not teached the facts of life at all and believe things like “You can’t get pregnant from the first time”.

Mach's mit

Here in Germany we have the campaign “Mach’s mit” (Do it with) since longer. The campaign advertises the use of condoms. You can order postcards and posters with the newest subjects here.

Steckdose.de: Online Stromkosten vergleichen

This is a paid posting, powered by trigami Disclaimer: This is a paid posting, powered by trigami.

You know what I mean: You’re just sitting in front of your computer and surfing a bit, and suddenly the door bell rings and some relatives or friends come for a flying visit. And as you don’t want to close down all programs you were using or you’re just too lazy, you don’t turn off the computer. In the meantime in the living room the TV runs since a few hours, and at night the hi-fi system wastes standby power.

In perpetuity it all adds up, and suddenly you’ve got an electricity bill about a few hundred Euros, although you pay monthly deductions. There is also the fact that electricity gets more expensive from day to day and you could even get such a horrendous electricity bill if you don’t do all those energy wasting things.

Steckdose.de

That’s why Steckdose.de offers an electricity tariff comparing for all Germany. Here you can reckon up the costs from different providers and check if you can save a few Euros by changing the provider.

Since admittedly I’m a quite careless person as to my PC’s hours of operation – it often runs for a lot of hours – I just tested the tariff comparing calculator. Finding it is really easy when visiting the page: Straight away on the starting page there is a small form which you fill in with your post code (Postleitzahl), overall consumption (Gesamtverbrauch) and private (Privat) or commercial (Gewerblich) use, then you click “Vergleich starten”, that means to start comparing, and that’s what the calculator does now.

Steckdose.de

After that a new tab or window opens where you can see the findings and choose a few additional options. For example if you wish to consider discounts for the first year, if you only want rates with price guarantee or only clean power rates. I especially like that option, because everybody is talking about the climate change and we all should try to live ecofriendly.

Steckdose.de

But I want to get as much findings as possible, and so I leave out that option for now and so I get all findings. Last year Tom and me consumed 3335 kWh. We paid about 660 Euros to our provider. According to Steckdose.de we could save up to 120 Euros! The findings are shown in turn, the cheapest first.

Steckdose.de

More than hundred Euros, the consideration to change the provider is really worthwhile, isn’t it? As I would like to pay monthly further on, I activate the according option and soon I get offerings where this is possible. Here I can save up to 90 Euros – still a lot of money!

Steckdose.de

Top right on the page there is also an explanation of the symbols. The leaf certainly stands for clean power. The tips are editorial recommendations by Steckdose.de.

My conclusion: The rate comparing calculator is really profitable and a good hand with the search for a new provider. The calculator itself and the finding pages are neatly arranged and even the homepage is indeed brightly coloured, but plain and glutted with too much knick-knack. Additionally you can get the newest information about electricity from politics and economy on the Steckdose.de-Blog.

Who knows – perhaps we will really change the provider thanks to Steckdose.de. ‘Cause you can buy a lot of nice things with 90 Euros! smilie

I’ve got a Wii with Sports!

Since a few days I mainly stay on the couch in front of the TV. The reason: I have got a Wii now! Instead of a new mobile, I got a Wii with my new mobile contract, because I like my mobile and don’t want to have a new one. So Tom and me found a new activity since just a week: Wii Sports. The game is supplied with the console and contains five sports: Tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. The game is controlled with the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk, a Wii specific controller with joystick and trigger key – probably for shoot-’em-ups or the like.

Specific about Wii are the controls. A control bar transfers all moves the user makes with his or her Wii Remote to the console. With Wii Sports you can try out these controls marvellously: Especially in tennis, baseball and golf the moves are very realistic.

Playing Wii is really a lot of fun and so it’s no wonder that Wii is not only head and shoulders better than Playstation 3, but it’s even world market leader on the console market. Apart from the common console functions the Wii disposes of an internet access, either by LAN or WLAN. Beside gimmicks like a weather and news channel you can download game classics like Marioland from the shop channel. The downloaded games are paid with so-called Wii Points, which you can buy per credit card or in trade. A Nintendo64 game for example costs 1000 Points, converted that’s 10 Euros.

As many other Wii Fans I’m now waiting for the complete integration of the Nintendo VIP Club in the Wii shop account. As already announced in several Nintendo newsletters it will soon be possible to buy Wii Points with the stars collected in Nintendo VIP Club. You get stars in the form of codes with each Nintendo game and console you buy. According to Nintendo you will get one Wii Point for four stars.

And if you’d also like to have a Wii, why don’t you buy it right now on Amazon: Nintendo Wii Konsole – Wii Sports Bundle white
